I am honored to say that I am a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Man & Woman of the Year campaign. I am asking for your support in my efforts to help LLS in its mission to ensure access to cures and treatments for blood cancers. I am competing with several other Man & Woman of the Year candidates in Oregon and SW Washington and together we will each put our best fundraising foot forward in honor of two courageous children, Ramsey and Anna, our Boy & Girl of the Year.

Many people have either been directly impacted or know someone that has been impacted by a blood cancer. For me, my father-in-law, Skip, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2007. After radiation and several rounds of chemotherapy, Skip received an autologous stem cell transplant.  Thankfully, he shows no signs of the cancer today because of research like that funded by LLS.  This research and treatments also help with other diseases—my dad, Mike, receives one of the chemo-therapy treatments funded by LLS research to help slow the onset of his neuromyelitis optica.

In addition to funding research to find a cure for cancer, LLS funds co-pay assistance programs to help pay for the cost of treatments, provides training to doctors in rural areas, and helps families that are coping with the news that a loved one has been diagnosed with a blood cancer. I am passionate for the cause and, thus, could not say “no” to the opportunity to be a part of finding the cure for blood cancer.

Here is how you can be part of the cure for blood cancer…

My campaign to be the Woman of the Year is all about dollars raised and I am asking you today to join me in this ambitious campaign. I have until May 20, 2016 to reach my goal of raising $100,000.00!

Your donation will prevent someone from losing a child, sibling, parent or loved one, and allow LLS to continue funding lifesaving research. Please reach out to others you know and ask them to contribute as well. I have found that so many of the people I talk to about my campaign have a connection to blood cancer and want to support LLS.

Team Mt. St. Cure has but one goal:
                  End blood cancers for good.
